Red light therapy is safe for most adults. We screen for photosensitivity disorders, active skin cancer, recent steroid injections in the area, and pregnancy. Patients on medications that increase photosensitivity (some antibiotics, retinoids, certain cardiac medications) should let us know — we adjust accordingly.
It works — when the device delivers the right wavelengths at therapeutic irradiance. Most home devices are too weak to produce results in reasonable session times.
