WHAT IS PRP HAIR RESTORATION?

PRP hair restoration uses platelet-rich plasma (PRP) naturally sourced from the blood to stimulate hair growth. PRP contains a wealth of wound healing and growth factors that stimulate damaged hair follicles for hair regrowth. PRP injections also stimulate the production of collagen, a protein in the skin that is important for tissue regeneration. Collagen can improve scalp health and aid in natural hair growth to improve hair thinning.

WHO IS A CANDIDATE FOR PRP HAIR RESTORATION?

PRP hair treatment can treat male pattern baldness, female pattern baldness, and thinning hair. Since PRP is naturally derived from the patient’s own blood, there is practically no risk of an allergic reaction and almost anyone is a candidate. Patients with complete baldness should consider other treatments since PRP is intended to stimulate hair growth from existing hair follicles.

THE PRP HAIR RESTORATION TREATMENT

PRP hair restoration is a three-step treatment that starts with a blood draw in our office. The patient’s blood will be spun in a centrifuge to separate the PRP from other blood components like red blood cells and blood proteins. Next, several injections of PRP will be placed in the thinning patches of hair. These injections only take a few minutes and are minimally painful, but the entire procedure takes about one hour.

RECOVERY AFTER PRP HAIR RESTORATION

After PRP treatment, mild bruising, swelling, and discomfort around the injection sites are common but these effects will subside within a few days. To limit the amount of swelling and bruising that occurs, patients should avoid strenuous activity and direct sun exposure or heat for a few days. Use gentle hair products and carefully clean the hair to avoid rubbing the injection sites and damaging the treated hair follicle.

What conditions can be treated with PRF Hair restoration?

Postpartum Hair loss

3- 12 months after giving birth, women can experience increased hair shedding as hormone levels change. PRF treatments during this time period help to restore hair growth.

Androgenic Alopecia

Androgenic Alopecia is what is known as male-pattern baldness or female-pattern baldness, and it is genetic. PRF injections in areas of thinning /balding scalp can restore hair growth in that area.

Natural Hair loss from Aging

As we get older, our hair also ages, and it is natural to have changes in color, texture, and thickness. PRF treatments of the scalp helps thinning hair and keeps your hair looking great as you age.
