Answer at a glance

What is whole-body cryotherapy?

Whole-body cryotherapy exposes your skin to extremely cold air for 2 to 3 minutes, triggering a strong anti-inflammatory and recovery response. At Aesura Health’s Longevity Lounge in Hackensack, NJ, we use the Cryoniq XC Plus — a head-out, single-person, nitrogen-cooled chamber with Thermal Contrast Cryotherapy capability that alternates cold and warm exposures in the same visit for amplified recovery and metabolic benefits. Recommended operating range is −170°F to −200°F (−110°C to −140°C), with a maximum range down to −240°F. Most patients use cryotherapy 2 to 4 times per week.

Cold exposure is one of the oldest recovery tools in medicine, and modern whole-body cryotherapy delivers the benefit in a fraction of the time of an ice bath — without the misery. Our Cryoniq system gives us something most cryo studios don’t: contrast capability in a single visit.

What whole-body cryotherapy is

Whole-body cryotherapy uses brief, controlled exposure to ultra-cold air to trigger your body’s natural anti-inflammatory and recovery response. In 2 to 3 minutes, your skin temperature drops sharply — fast enough to constrict surface blood vessels, signal a systemic anti-inflammatory cascade, release endorphins, and stimulate norepinephrine.
Once you step out, blood rushes back to the surface, delivering oxygen and nutrients to recovering tissue. The result:  faster muscle recovery, reduced inflammation, improved mood and energy, and increased metabolic rate over the hours following the session.

Our equipment - Cryoniq with contrast capability

We use the Cryoniq XC Plusrate — a nitrogen-cooled, head-out, single-person whole-body cryotherapy chamber. CE-marked and FDA 513(g) Non-Medical Device classified. Built around a 21.5″ touchscreen control panel, an active drying system, oxygen and humidity monitoring, a tremor emergency stop, and a dual-door cabin that makes entry and exit easy.
What makes our setup distinct: Thermal Contrast Cryotherapy.  In a single visit the chamber alternates cold and warm exposures, which research suggests amplifies circulation, recovery, and metabolic benefits compared to cold alone. Thermal contrast is especially valuable for athletes, patients with chronic pain or stiffness, and anyone optimizing recovery.

What we use cryotherapy for

Athletic recovery and reduced muscle soreness
Chronic inflammation and joint pain
Skin tone and collagen support
Mood, energy, and stress resilience
Metabolic and weight-management support
Sleep quality
Migraine and headache support
Post-injury recovery (with physician clearance)
Many of our longevity-focused patients use cryotherapy as a weekly anti-inflammatory practice  that complements peptide therapy, NAD+ infusions, and hormone optimization.

What to expect at a cryo session

You’ll change into provided dry undergarments, gloves, socks, and slippers — the only items that stay on. We do a quick skin and vitals check, then guide you into the chamber. Your head stays above the chamber the entire time so you can talk to us.
The session lasts 2 to 3 minutes. It’s intensely cold but dry — most patients describe it as bracing rather than painful. You can step out at any time. After the session, you’ll feel a wave of warmth and energy as circulation rebounds.

Contrast therapy - what it adds

With our Cryoniq system, we can program a contrast session: a cycle of cold exposure followed by warm exposure, repeated 2 to 4 times within a single visit. This ‘pump’ between vasoconstriction and vasodilation drives circulation harder than cold alone, accelerates lactate clearance, and produces a deeper anti-inflammatory and metabolic response.
Contrast therapy is especially useful for  athletes preparing for or recovering from intense training, patients managing chronic pain or stiffness, and anyone in a cold-tolerant maintenance phase wanting more from each visit.

How often to come in

Recovery and inflammation focus:  2 to 4 sessions per week.
Wellness maintenance:  1 to 2 sessions per week.
Pre-event athletic recovery:  stack as appropriate around training cycles.

We help you build a cadence based on your goals and how your body responds.

Service area

Cryoniq + contrast, in Bergen County.

Patients come to the Aesura Longevity Lounge for cryotherapy fromHackensack, Paramus, Teaneck, Englewood, Fort Lee, Tenafly, Bergenfield, Maywood,  and across North Jersey — many searching for an ice bath alternative, contrast therapy, or athletic recovery near them.
Whole-body cryotherapy is safe for most adults. We screen foruncontrolled high blood pressure, severe heart disease, recent stroke, Raynaud’s syndrome, cold allergies (cold urticaria), severe peripheral neuropathy, and pregnancy.

Stack a visit

Pair cryotherapy with IV infusion.

Both target inflammation and recovery from different angles. We typically schedule your IV first; cryotherapy follows as the infusion completes.

Oxidative Recovery Drip

High-dose Vitamin C, Glutathione, Zinc — systemic anti-inflammatory support stacked with cold.

Aesura Longevity Infusion (NAD+)

For cellular recovery alongside the metabolic lift of cryo.

Neuro Restore Drip

For energy and mood — pairs naturally with the dopamine and norepinephrine response.

The questions Bergen County patients ask before booking.
Our Cryoniq XC Plus runs between −170°F and −200°F (−110°C to −140°C) at the recommended setting, with a maximum range down to −240°F.  The cold is dry nitrogen-cooled air — not the wet cold of an ice bath — so it feels intense but bearable for the 2 to 3 minutes of exposure.
Contrast therapy alternates cold and warm exposures in a single session.  The repeated vasoconstriction and vasodilation drives circulation, clears metabolic waste from tissue, and amplifies the anti-inflammatory and recovery response compared to cold alone. Most cryo studios can only do cold; our Cryoniq system is set up for both.
Yes, when performed in a clean, monitored facility on screened patients.  Our staff is trained in the Cryoniq protocol and stays with you for the entire session. We screen for cardiovascular conditions, cold sensitivity, and pregnancy.
Faster, drier, and easier to tolerate. An ice bath delivers wet cold over 10 to 20 minutes; whole-body cryotherapy delivers a stronger anti-inflammatory signal in 2 to 3 minutes of dry cold. Many patients who couldn’t tolerate ice baths do fine with cryo.
Yes — measurably.  The body works hard to maintain core temperature during and after a session, raising metabolic rate for hours. Estimates vary, but a typical session burns 200 to 800 calories depending on the individual and protocol.
Many patients report improved sleep and a noticeable mood lift  in the hours following a session. Cold exposure stimulates norepinephrine, endorphins, and the dopamine system.
We don’t perform whole-body cryotherapy during pregnancy.
Yes. A common longevity stack is HBOT first (oxygen and recovery), red light second (cellular energy), and cryotherapy last (anti-inflammatory finish). We help you sequence based on your goal — recovery, energy, or longevity.
We offer  single sessions, packages, and Longevity Lounge memberships that bundle cryotherapy with red light, HBOT, and IV infusions at a discounted per-visit rate. Pricing is shared during your consultation.
