Does the treatment hurt?
Most patients describe the sensation as “prickly” with a feeling of heat. We apply a strong topical numbing cream 45 minutes before your session to maximize your comfort, and we use a cooling device (Zimmer) during the procedure to soothe the skin.
How much downtime is there?
Fraxel® involves “social downtime.” You will likely experience redness and swelling similar to a sunburn for 2 to 3 days. Over the next week, your skin may feel rough (like sandpaper) and have a bronzed appearance as the old skin flakes off to reveal the fresh, pink skin underneath.
How many treatments will I need?
While you should see results after a single session, clinical studies suggest an effective treatment regimen of 3 to 5 sessions, spaced 2 to 4 weeks apart, for optimal results.
Can Fraxel remove acne scars?
